DYCOPS-CAB 2016

The 11th IFAC Symposium on Dynamics and Control of Process Systems, including Biosystems (DYCOPS-CAB 2016) will be held in Trondheim, Norway, on June 6-8, 2016. It is organized by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, departments of Chemical Engineering and Engineering Cybernetics, together with the Norwegian Society of Automatic Control, the IFAC NMO of Norway. DYCOPS-CAB 2016 is sponsored by the IFAC Technical Committee on Chemical Process Control (6.1) and co-sponsored by the IFAC Technical Committee on Biosystems and Bioprocesses (8.4).

The DYCOPS symposium has now been merged together with CAB (Computer Applications in Biotechnologies) into a single three-day conference. Thus, in the new format, sessions that were traditionally held under the DYCOPS and CAB umbrella will be held in parallel.

Both theory and applications will be covered, within topics such as:

  1. Process optimization and plantwide control
  2. Model-based control
  3. Batch Processes
  4. Performance/Fault/process monitoring
  5. Process planning/scheduling and control
  6. Modelling and system identification
  7. Bioreactor technology
  8. Metabolic engineering/Systems biology
  9. Environmental/Energy (mixed cultures)
A more detailed list of general topics for DYCOPS-CAB can be found here, and a list of special topics for DYCOPS-CAB 2016 can be found here.

DYCOPS symposia have a long history initiated in 1986 under the name DYCORD (Dynamics and Control of Chemical Reactors, Distillation Columns and Batch Processes) in Bournemouth (UK) and renamed into DYCOPS in 1998 during the fifth edition in Corfu (Greece). DYCOPS 2016 will be the eleventh edition. CAB originated from a series of events that started some 40 years ago in Dijon, France with the aim of stimulating contacts between specialists active in academic research and industrial development in all areas of biotechnology. The conference was officially named as CAB in Garmish-Partenkirchen in 1995 and since then it has been held every 3 years under the umbrella of IFAC and the European Federation of Biotechnology in different locations in Europe, Asia and North America. The merging of the two events into one symposium has been done following the recognition that the communities attending each one of these meetings will profit from a higher level of interaction while at the same time shortening the overall duration of the event.
