Abstract

A state observer is proposed for a class of multi-output nonlinearsystems. The gain of this observer involves a design function thathas to satisfy some mild conditions which are given. Differentexpressions of such a function are proposed. Of particularinterest, it is shown that high gain observers and sliding modelike observers can be derived by considering particularexpressions of the design function. A simulation example is givenin order to compare the performance of a high gain observer and asliding mode like observer obtained through two different choicesof the design function.
