The effect of transport rates on reactive distillation performance has been investigated in a single unit of reactive distillation and secondary separation processes. Several combinations of process feasibility have been explored by residue curve maps. The experimental approach has been carried out in a reactive distillation column incorporated by highly water-selective zeolitic membrane for tert-amyl ethyl ether synthesis. The modelling of this hybrid and continuous process by both homogeneous and heterogeneous models has shown multiple steady-states which were attributed to strong non-linearity of multiple parameters affecting the process. However, the effect of rate change was not significant on reactive distillation performance within operating conditions.

Presented Thursday 20, 13:30 to 14:40, in session EPIC-1: Poster Session (EPIC - Poster) - P2.
