Session 136 - Invited: In Honor of Neal Amundson's 90th Birthday, II
Neal Amundson is widely regarded as the most influential ChE educator living today. Through his pioneering research, effective recruiting of brilliant faculty, outstanding training of numerous former PhD students who became leaders of the chemical engineering profession in their own right, and exemplary leadership as Head of the ChE Department at the University of Minnesota for 25 years which brought that program to the prominence it enjoys today, Neal Amundson holds a special position among all ChE educators. He also chaired the 1988 NRC Frontiers in Chemical Engineering report which charted the course for chemical engineering that is followed to this day. He has received numerous honors for his contributions, including the AIChE's Walker, Wilhelm, Lewis and Founders Awards; memberships in the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; and the NAE's Founders Award. With outstanding speakers who are leaders of chemical engineering, while looking towards the future of ChE, these two sessions will celebrate the achievements of this influential ChE educator on the occasion of his 90th birthday. Invited Speakers only.
