Abstract
Estimation of wastewater composition (Chemical Organic Demand – COD and nitrogen-related species such as ammonia and organic nitrogen) for on-line control of treatment plants based on Principal Components Regression (PCR) and Partial Least Squares (PLS) applied to spectrometric data (turbidity, UV-visible and synchronous fluorescence spectra). Satisfactory models were obtained based on the total UV-visible spectra. The synchronous fluorescence spectra should be divided into regions of interest that could be related to urine and humic and fulvic acids.
