Gintaras V. Reklaitis, Chemical Engineering, Purdue University, Forney Hall of Chemical Engineering 1137, 480 Stadium Mall Drive, West Lafayette, IN 47907-2100 and Fernando J. Muzzio, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Rutgers University, 98 Brett Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.

This presentation will involve two parts. The first part will highlight the next steps to be followed in obtaining broad feedback from the stakeholders and in developing the roadmap to a finer level of granularity, including refinement of research priorities and resource needs. Plans to use the roadmap to stimulate federal and industrial investment in the needed research will be outlined, In the second part, an overview will be given of the recently awarded NSF Engineering Research Center on Structured Organic Composites, which is led by Rutgers University with Purdue University, New Jersey Institute of Technology and the University of Puerto Rico as partners. The research program of the ERC will address important sectors of the Roadmap, focussing on the development and manufacturing of drug products in which processing of particulate and granular components is the integrative theme.
