There are significant differences between chemical pilot plants and food pilot plants. These differences include areas of analytical technologies / methodologies, occupational safety goals, materials of construction, operational practices, quality measurements, and many others. This presentation will cover these differences from the hands-on experiences of an engineer moving from the chemical / pharmaceutical industry into the food industry. These experiences illustrate the challenges the chemical industry faces when entering the food industry / market place.
