Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. The city dwellers are exposed to pollutants from different sources such as vehicles, industries, unplanned construction activities, etc. This study is focused on the concentration level of some major pollutants and their impact on environmental and human health. The concentrations of these pollutants for the last five years have been investigated. The situation is really alarming as many people live near to the source of these pollutants. The toxic effects of these components have also been reviewed in this study.
