If microdevices are to enter the world of the production of chemicals, numerous issues have to be addressed. From an economic standpoint, the longevity of the devices is an issue, so corrosion tests are crucial. In addition, controllability of devices is a prerequisite for their use. Safety aspects have to be taken care of. These and more points must be properly addressed prior to introducing microdevices in chemical production.
