Evaluation of Higee for Distillation

Known experimental programs and applications of Higee for distillation are reviewed. Using published literature, the necessary equations for basic process design are identified. Four generic Higee designs are considered, covering the range from vacuum to high pressure distillation. Factors discussed include HETP, capacity, pressure drop and power consumption. It is shown that the latter two factors are likely Achilles heels for Higee.
