Greetings from the IPC and NOC Chairs

On behalf of the International Programme Committee (IPC) and the National Organizing Committee (NOC), it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 5th Symposium on Advanced Control of Industrial Processes (Adconip) held at Hiroshima, Japan.

Adconip 2014 is being held from May 28th (Wednesday) to May 30th (Friday) at Mielparque Hiroshima, Hiroshima, Japan. Set against the backdrop of two world heritage sites - the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine, Adconip 2014 promises to be engaging for audience interested in theoretical developments and industrial applications of control and automation. The NOC has also planned for social events (welcome reception and conference banquet) and a tour to Miyajima Island.

Adconip 2014 is set to follow in the rich tradition and academic quality of the previous four editions that were held in Japan, South Korea, Canada and China respectively. The IPC accepted 103 papers from 117 that were submitted. Final versions of 99 papers were received. The 2-day technical programme will feature 4 plenaries and 4 keynotes. The 98 papers (one paper out of the 99 papers will be presented as a keynote) will be presented in one of the 7 regular sessions (31 papers), 6 invited sessions (37 papers) and 3 poster sessions (30 papers).

The conference will start at 9:45am on 28th May with an opening ceremony in Hesei 1. The technical session starts at 10:00am at the same venue with the first plenary session. The technical program ends at 6:30pm on 29th May. There will be a welcome reception at 7:00pm on 28th May and the conference banquet will be held at 7:00pm on 29th May. We hope that you will plan your conference stay so that you can participate in all of the above events. The high quality of the program (both technical and social aspects) would not be possible without the tremendous and timely efforts of the IPC and NOC members, organizers of the invited sessions, associate editors who organized review of the papers, the reviewers and the many staff members. We wish to record our sincere appreciation and gratitude to all of them.

The Book of Abstracts should give you most of the information you need to make the best use of your time at Adconip 2014. Several volunteers will be at hand throughout the conference - do not hesitate to approach them for any help or assistance. Stop by the conference registration desk if you have questions or need help. We hope you have a pleasant stay in Hiroshima, Japan.

Best Regards,
