EXHIBITS

Exhibits will be open Wednesday morning through Friday noon in Grand Ballroom Foyer. Confirmed conference exhibitors and sponsors include National Instruments, MathWorks, UTRC, Quanser, Taylor and Francis, PendCon, Springer, SIAM, and Emerson Process Management.

United Technologies

United Technologies

United Technologies Corporation (UTC) is a diversified corporation serving three primary markets: Aerospace, buildings and power.  Our businesses include Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky and Hamilton Sundstrand (aircraft engines, helicopters and aerospace power systems), Carrier, Otis and UTC Fire & Security (HVAC systems, elevators and escalators and building fire and security systems) and UTC Power (stationary and transportation fuel cell power plants).  Our products require increasingly sophisticated dynamic modeling and control to achieve the levels of performance demanded by our customers. The most challenging control problems are highly multidisciplinary and require a collaborative, concurrent engineering approach.  United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) has a history of meeting these challenges by assembling integrated teams drawing talent from our business units, UTRC and academic partners who come together to deliver innovative modeling and control solutions and technologies with both business and academic impact.

Taylor & Francis Group

United Technologies

Taylor & Francis, founded in the City of London in 1798, is the oldest commercial journals publisher in the world, and one of the leading global academic publishers. The Taylor & Francis Group publishes more than 1000 journals and around 1,800 new books each year.

PendCon

United Technologies

PendCon is a new small company that develops, constructs, and sells experiments for control education. Several plants are offered: Rate and position control for a dc motor, position control for a simple, a double and a triple pendulum and position control for a simple and a double rotary pendulum. All these experiments can be realized as a building kit on a single platform. By this way, it is possible realize in a comparatively inexpensive manner a collection of experiments which ranges from a simple undergraduate level up to a level on which research is possible. A key feature of the experiments is that the SW and documentation comprises a detailed and accurate SIMULINK simulation model of the plant. It runs in parallel to the hardware on a target computer in a Matlab xPC Target environment. Due to the smart hardware set-up, it is possible to use the experiment not only in a lab but also in a lecture for demonstration purposes. In the documentation and the SW, the design and the analysis of various controllers is prepared and described: Classical PID, pole placement, LQ, H2, Hinf, mu and nonlinear. For the design and the testing of mu controllers, an extra kit of mechanic and electronic devices can be supplied which makes the plant uncertain.

National Instruments

National Instruments

National Instruments is committed to enhancing engineering and science education worldwide by providing educators and students with powerful graphical system design software and modular hardware to connect the curriculum with the real world. Professors and students benefit from industry-leading, professional tools such as NI LabVIEW graphical development software, which helps students visualize and implement engineering concepts. The integration of LabVIEW in the classroom creates an effective, dynamic learning environment – from primary schools to research laboratories in universities. NI also offers resources to universities to support laboratories, research and student programs and competitions. For more information about NI academic products, curriculum resources, and discounts, visitwww.ni.com/academic.

MathWorks

MathWorks

Over 1,000,000 of the world's leading engineers and scientists, in over 100 countries, use MATLAB® and Simulink® to develop vehicle electronics, control systems, and embedded software. These technical people work at the most innovative technology companies and at more than 3,500 universities, exploring ideas, modeling and simulating systems, prototyping concepts, and then deploying embedded software to production hardware. At ACC 2008, the MathWorks is hosting a panel session on Wednesday, June 11th at 11:30am (lunch provided) to bring together academic and industry experts to discuss common needs. Visit our exhibit to find out about programs and available support for the academic community to better prepare tomorrow’s engineers for successful careers in Industry

Quanser

Quanser

Quanser is leading developer of experiments for teaching control systems design and hands-on practical implementation. Quanser also works with its clients in a full consulting services capacity to assist in the development of requirements and specifications for entire turnkey controls laboratories that meet our clients’ teaching goals. Our extensive line of workstations span the breadth of Introductory to Advanced Controls, Mechatronics to Aerospace and Civil Engineering, and from widely modular to highly specialized teaching systems. Since 1990 Quanser has been supplying engineering controls laboratories to over 1200 customers around the globe including universities, government laboratories, and commercial organizations
