FOCAPO 98 Conference Annoucement

The Foundations of Computer Aided Process Operations Conference
(FOCAPO 98) to be held in Snowbird, Utah from July 5-10, 1998 will be
the third in a series of conferences dealing with the use of computers
in support of process operations. Given the developments in the
process industry and computer technology there has been an enormous
increase in interest in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of
process operations. Indeed, much of the restructuring within the
process industry over the past few years has been operations
focused. Given the likely continuation of this trend and the host of
related research and technical issues, FOCAPO 98 will bring together
operations people, management, and researchers for a comprehensive
look at the state of the art in computer aided process operations, a
discussion of strategies important to thriving in an environment of
rapidly advancing technology, and the important challenges to be
overcome.

FOCAPO 98 includes sessions on computers in the 21st century, plant
wide optimization, environmental issues, product integrity/quality,
planning and scheduling, next generation technology, emerging and high
growth processes, and the management of pilot plants/market
development plants.

FOCAPO 98 is sponsored by the CACHE Corporation, the Computer and
Systems Technology Division (CAST 10) of the American Institute of
Chemical Engineers (AIChE), and APICS - The Educational Society for
Resource Management.
