Re: Distillation column model (nonlinear)

The model for the distillation column is "column A" studied in several
papers by Skogestad and Morari, e.g. see

  S. Skogestad and M. Morari, ``Understanding the Dynamic Behavior of
  Distillation Columns'', Ind. & Eng. Chem. Research, 27, 10,
  1848-1862 (1988).

The model is the same as the one given in
the book of Morari and Zafiriou (1989) - see their Appendix -
except that we have also included liquid flow dynamics.

If you can wait, then a complete description of
the nonlinear model with a MATLAB file for nonlinear simulation will
be available on the book home page in November 1996.

The thesis of Lundstrom (1994) is available over the internet, see my
home page under Publications Available on the Web(Postscript).

The thesis by Hovd (1992) may be ordered from the Chemical Engineering
Department (ph. +47-7359-4030) and the one by Gjoesaeter (1995) from
