TMM4175 Polymer Composites is a NTNU graduate course for mechanical engineering and material science students. The multiscale approach provides understanding of composite materials on microscale as well as design and engineering knowledge of composite structures and components.

Numerical case studies are important for most of the topics, supported by Python modules and procedures.

The course introduces the finite element method for analyzing composite materials, laminates and composite structures supplemented by a collection of relevant case studies for both solids models and shell models.

Test methods, manufacturing, and engineering and reliability concludes the course. By completing TMM4175, students shall be able to design and engineer composite structures and components using analytical and numerical tools and relevant standards and guidelines.
