Unstructured and Nested Grids for 3D CFD Modelling in Hydraulic Engineering
Abstract
Various grid types are discussed in relation to applicability for hydraulic engineering.
This includes the ability to model complex geometries, accuracy of the results and ease
of implementation for various discretisation schemes. Also discussed are the speed of
the resulting computer program and its ability to model special physical problems
encountered in hydraulic engineering. Emphasis is put on the advantages of the unstructured
non-orthogonal hexahedral grid and the nested grid approach.
