Below is a schematical illustration of an image used for DIC. A digital image contains a matrix of pixels, origanized in columns and rows. One or more color values are associated to each pixel. For a color image the pixel color may be defined by three values indicating its red, green and blue level. However, in DIC it is more common to use monochrome grayscale images with a single image per pixel indicating the pixel’s light intensity.
