New homepage design

I am happy to announce a completely new design of my homepage! The design is created with Jekyll, a generator for static webpages, which makes it easy to maintain and update. It is based on a Jekyll theme called Norlin, designed by Artem Sheludko, but with my own photos instead of those that came with the design package. I felt that this design was matched my criteria very well by being relatively simple, modern and clean, with dark bluish colors, including most of the functional aspects I was looking (e.g. tagging).

The photos that make up the background of the different main pages are from different trips I’ve been to, either privately or through my work, and include pictures from The Jewish Museum Berlin, an artistic color store in Venice, a subway station in Naples, the interior of Fraunhofer Institute in Jena and my family’s cabin in the Oslo Fjord.

As for the content, I have included some of the newer posts from my old page and will continue to add more of them in the time to come. The old web page will still be available at this link. Due to the organization of the site, some of the content is also included as posts instead of static pages to be able to apply the tagging functionality.

An important difference between my new and my old pages is that the new one allows for tagging and dating posts, as well as searching in the pages and posts that make up the website. This makes it a lot easier to navigate the content, e.g. by clicking on the different tags at the bottom of the pages.
