English summary on my MA: This MA thesis on Bulgarian
folkmusic, or "Bulgarski narodna muzika" is a result of fieldwork in Sliven,
Bulgaria during the fall of 1996. The historical backgrounds for Bulgaria
and the foundations of the strong folklore movement before world war 2
are briefly outlined, together with an overall look at the development
of musical folklore in Bulgaria in the communist and post-communist period.
Typical musical forms, instruments, folklore ensembles, musical schools
and education forms the background for the more specific characterisation
of some musicians in Sliven, Bulgaria. Especially the life and music of
the kavalplayer Stojan Tsjobanov. A "bavna pesen", a "ruchenitza" and a
"horo" played on the "kaval" flute is analysed in the "na trapeza" context
in the last chapter of the thesis.
