Time-scale assumptions

Process models always reflect a separation of the time-scale into three pieces:

  • A constant part
  • A dynamic part
  • An event-dynamic part

Simplifications of a given process model are in most cases associated with time-scale and length-scale assumptions. These can be readily done in visual form. For example, looking at a long time scale  a transport system being assumed to be very fast is on a long time scale in
