TVM 4155 Numerical modelling and hydraulics

General information

The class "Hydroinformatics for fluvial hydraulics and limnology" describes various processes in rivers and lakes/reservoirs, such as hydrodynamics, sediment transport, water quality and temperature. The processes are modelled using computers and CFD technologies. The lectures, assistance for homework and course material will be given in English.

Faget "Hydroinformatikk for vassdrag og resipienter" er et 8. semesters fag som tar for seg forskjellige prosesser i vassdrag og resipienter, slik som hydrodynamikk, vannlinjer, flombølger, sedimenttransport, vannkvalitet, temperatur og habitat. For hvert emne dekker faget tre deler:

1. Beskrivelse av de fysiske prosessene, inkludert ligninger
2. Løsningsalgoritmer for ligningene
3. Dataprogrammer som er spesiallaget for beregning av de fysiske prosessene

Forelesningene vil i hovedsak dreie seg om punkt 1 og 2, mens øvingene vil for det meste omhandle punkt 2 og 3.

Forutsetninger: Kunnskap tilsvarende fag TVM4116 Hydromekanikk.

Prerequisite for taking the course: Previously having taken a course in basic fluid mechanics and hydraulics.

I forbindelse med innføringen av Fremtidens Byggstudium vil faget bli flyttet fra 7 til 8 semester, dvs fra høstsemesteret til vårsemesteret i 4. klasse. Faget vil derfor bli undervist høsten 2009 og våren 2011, og ikke i 2010.
