Flood wave hitting a construction

This case is a simulation of a flood wave hitting a construction located inside a flume. A time-dependent solution of the Navier-Stokes equations is used, and a continuity based method is used to change the water surface. An adaptive grid is used. The results from the numerial model correspond well with the measurements in a physical model (Lovoll et. al., 1995).

Channel geometry seen from above, with velocity vectors, 7 seconds after the wave has been released.

Animation of the flood wave seen as a longitudinal profile along the centerline of the flume. The wave is animated with 1 second between each picture.
