First jobs are the set of jobs novices can change into.
First Job Information
To attain your First Job class you must first complete Novice which requires gaining 10 Job levels and placing all skill points into Basic Skill. Once you have done this you can sign up at one of the various Job guilds in order to complete the quest associated with changing to that Job Class.

Visit these sections to find out more about the different First Job Classes, Job Change quest guides can also be found there. Also there is the ability to become a Super Novice if you choose to continue training as a Novice until you reach level 45.
Once you change to your First Job Class you continue to train and allocate Skill Points until you reach atleast Job Level 40, from Job Level 40 to Job Level 50 you are able to change to Second Job Class. For some classes it is more advisable to wait till Job Level 50 to change then for others, firstly because of the additional Skill Points that can be used to fulfill the requirements for some of the Second Job Skills and secondly because most Second Job change quests give a bonus reward for changing at Job Level 50.
Remember that as a First Job Class you are still quite weak, while each class has its strengths they all have weaknesses that will get you killed time and time again if you're not careful. Thus you should pick up any and all loot you find (but not stealing other peoples loot unless they're clearly not getting it or you ask first) to afford Fly Wings primarily and healing items to keep you going.
