The wind farm is situated in a flat and open landscape 10-40 meters above sea level, with the wind turbines dotted along the ridges of hills. 68 wind turbines with respectively 2.0 and 2.3 MW generate around 450 GWh in a normal year. The wind farm was built in two phases, 2002 and 2005 and was at the time of its opening Europe's largest onshore wind power facility.

The excursion will start after the seminar on Friday afternoon by bus to Smøla where we will stay for the night. The visit of the wind farm is planned for Saturday morning, before we leave Smøla again in the afternoon. Transport to and from the island as well as accommodation at Smøla will be financed by the seminar organisers. The number of participants is limited to 50 persons, related to the order of registration.
